Scope of This Policy This Policy applies to cookies and similar technologies used through web-based services operated by GoodKeeping, including: - the public GoodKeeping website; - signup and authentication pages; - authenticated Organization workspaces; - account and billing settings; - cookie-preference controls; and - other GoodKeeping-operated web interfaces. A cookie choice made through one GoodKeeping-operated interface is intended to apply across the public website and authenticated application where the same preference record is available. Third-party websites and hosted services may use their own technologies under their own privacy and cookie policies. ## 2. What Cookies and Similar Technologies Are Cookies are small data files stored by a browser when a person visits or uses a website. Preferences, Analytics, and Marketing technologies may include optional technologies. Optional providers operate only where they are enabled by GoodKeeping and the required user choice or consent has been provided. When no optional Analytics or Marketing providers are enabled, GoodKeeping may not display an optional-cookie consent banner. ## 4. Necessary Technologies Necessary technologies support functions required to provide and protect the Service. Necessary technologies are always active and cannot be disabled through GoodKeeping’s cookie-preference controls. Where shown in the preference interface, the Necessary category will be displayed as active and locked because it is required for security and core Service functionality. Preference Technologies Preference technologies support choices that affect how the website or Service appears or behaves. GoodKeeping may store a preference when a user expressly selects or requests the associated feature. For example, selecting a language or interface theme may cause that choice to be stored so it can be applied during later visits. User-requested language, theme, and application-interface settings are not treated as behavioral advertising technologies. Where other non-essential Preference technologies are enabled, they may be managed through the available cookie-preference controls. Clearing browser storage may reset saved preferences. ## 6. Analytics Technologies Analytics technologies help GoodKeeping understand how the public website or selected Service interfaces are used and perform. Depending on the enabled provider and configuration, Analytics technologies may collect information such as: - pages visited; - navigation paths; - referring pages; - approximate visit location; - browser and device characteristics; - website interactions; - session duration; - campaign source; - errors; - performance information; and - aggregated usage patterns. GoodKeeping may use Analytics information to: - measure website traffic; - identify technical issues; - improve page performance; - evaluate usability; - understand content effectiveness; - measure feature adoption; and - improve the Service. Optional browser-based Analytics providers operate only after valid Analytics consent has been provided. Declining Analytics technologies does not prevent use of the core Service. Server-side records necessary for authentication, security, fraud prevention, audit, accounting history, access control, reliability, and customer support are operational records rather than optional browser analytics. They are addressed in the Privacy Policy and are not disabled through optional cookie consent. ## 7. Marketing Technologies Marketing technologies may be used to: - measure advertising campaigns; - attribute website visits to campaigns; - measure conversions; - understand interactions with GoodKeeping advertisements; - limit repeated advertising; - create campaign audiences where permitted; and - improve the relevance and effectiveness of GoodKeeping marketing. Depending on the enabled provider, these technologies may use browser, device, campaign, or interaction identifiers. Optional Marketing providers operate only after valid Marketing consent has been provided. Declining Marketing technologies does not prevent access to the GoodKeeping website or core Service. GoodKeeping does not provide uploaded financial documents, transaction records, accounting records, or Organization workspace content to optional marketing providers for advertising purposes. ## 8. Cookie Preference Controls When optional providers are enabled, GoodKeeping provides controls through which users may: - accept all optional categories; - reject optional categories; - review individual categories; - change category selections; and - review information about enabled optional providers. The preference interface includes the following category controls: - Necessary; - Preferences; - Analytics; and - Marketing. The Necessary category is always active and cannot be changed. Optional category selections are not applied until the user saves or confirms the selection. Rejecting optional categories does not prevent the Service from using technologies required for authentication, security, session continuity, request protection, or other core functionality. ## 9. Consent Records GoodKeeping may store a first-party consent record containing information such as: - the selected categories; - the time the initial choice was made; - the time the choice was most recently updated; - the applicable preference format version; - the applicable Cookie Policy version; and - the applicable enabled-provider-set version. The consent record is used to: - remember the user’s choice; - prevent optional providers from operating without permission; - apply the same choice across GoodKeeping-operated web interfaces; - determine whether a prior choice remains current; and - request a new choice after a material change. A previous choice may no longer be treated as current where GoodKeeping materially changes: - the enabled providers; - the purposes for which optional technologies are used; - the category of a provider; - the types of information involved; or - other consent-relevant behavior. GoodKeeping does not treat an outdated or malformed consent record as approval for optional providers. ## 10. Active Provider Information GoodKeeping may support different analytics, advertising, campaign-measurement, and related providers as the Service develops. The cookie-preference interface or accompanying cookie inventory identifies optional providers currently enabled by GoodKeeping. For each enabled provider, the available inventory may include: - provider name; - category; - purpose; - first-party or third-party status; and - an applicable duration summary. Providers that are merely supported, planned, configured for future use, or disabled are not considered active solely because GoodKeeping’s systems are capable of supporting them. GoodKeeping may add, replace, or remove providers. Where a change materially affects an existing consent choice, GoodKeeping may request a new choice before enabling the affected provider. ## 11. Third-Party Technologies Some optional technologies may be operated by third parties providing analytics, marketing, campaign measurement, or related services to GoodKeeping. Depending on the provider and enabled purpose, those providers may process information such as: - browser identifiers; - device information; - IP address; - approximate location; - page activity; - referral information; - campaign information; - interaction events; and - consent status. Third-party providers process information under their own privacy and cookie notices in addition to their agreements with GoodKeeping. GoodKeeping does not control technologies placed directly by an independent third party after a user leaves the GoodKeeping website. ## 12. Hosted Payment and Integration Pages When a user opens a hosted checkout, customer billing portal, or third-party integration page, that page may be operated directly by the applicable provider. The provider may use technologies needed to: - maintain the hosted session; - process a payment; - prevent fraud; - authenticate the user; - preserve provider settings; and - comply with legal or security requirements. Technologies placed directly by a third-party hosted page are governed by that provider’s policies and may not be controlled through GoodKeeping’s cookie-preference interface. Blocking those technologies may prevent the hosted transaction or integration from functioning. ## 13. Local Storage and Session Storage GoodKeeping may use browser local storage or session storage for purposes including: - storing cookie preferences; - maintaining temporary interface state; - remembering language or appearance selections; - preserving navigation state; - maintaining short-lived workflow information; - supporting session continuity; - remembering application display settings; and - preventing repeated display of certain notices. Session storage generally remains for the current browser tab or session. Local storage may remain until: - the relevant feature removes or replaces it; - GoodKeeping changes the applicable configuration; - it expires, where an expiration applies; or - the user clears browser data. Clearing browser storage may sign the user out, reset interface preferences, remove saved choices, or affect application functionality. ## 14. How Long Technologies Last The duration of a cookie or similar technology depends on its purpose and configuration. ### 14.1 Session-related technologies Session-related technologies may expire when: - the user signs out; - the authenticated session expires; - the technology is invalidated; - the applicable browser or tab session ends; or - the configured maximum duration is reached. ### 14.2 Persistent technologies Persistent technologies may remain for a defined period or until deleted. Changing or Withdrawing a Choice Users may reopen the GoodKeeping cookie-preference interface to change a previous optional-cookie choice. Cookie Preferences are made available through: - the public GoodKeeping website; and - an appropriate location within the authenticated application. When consent for an optional category is withdrawn, GoodKeeping is designed to: - stop future loading of affected providers; - stop sending future optional events; - apply provider-supported withdrawal or opt-out controls where available; - remove optional scripts or elements controlled by GoodKeeping where appropriate; and - clear GoodKeeping-controlled provider storage where technically possible. Withdrawal does not necessarily: - erase information previously and lawfully collected; - remove cookies stored directly on third-party domains; - reverse processing that occurred before withdrawal; or - affect technologies required to operate and secure the Service. Browser security rules may prevent GoodKeeping from deleting a cookie stored exclusively on a third-party domain. Withdrawing optional consent does not remove: - authentication or session technologies; - request-security technologies; - fraud-prevention identifiers; - the cookie-preference record; - user-selected language; - user-selected theme; - authenticated application settings; or - necessary operational records. ## 16. Blocking or deleting Necessary technologies may prevent sign-in, secure form submission, billing, account-security functions, or normal use of the Service. ## 17. Marketing Email Is Separate Cookie choices do not automatically determine whether a person receives marketing emails. Consent to marketing communications is handled separately under the Marketing Consent notice. A person may: - reject Marketing technologies while separately opting in to marketing emails; or - permit Marketing technologies while unsubscribing from marketing emails. GoodKeeping does not sell uploaded financial documents or Organization bookkeeping records through cookie-based analytics or advertising activities. ## 19.
